WHAT TO BRING ON A NIAGARA FALLS TOUR
The good news is that since we handle everything for you (e.g. attraction tickets, meeting location, tour guide, itinerary etc,.) there’s not a whole lot you need to worry about bringing on a Niagara Falls tour but let’s discuss a few key must have’s to help with your trip planning.
WHAT TO BRING TO NIAGARA FALLS
Before we talk about Niagara Falls tours, let’s first cover some things you’ll want to make sure to bring to Niagara Falls in general.
Aside from all the usual personal things you would bring on any trip (clothing, toiletries, wallet etc,.) there are a few specific items we want to make special mention of:
- Cash. Since pretty much everywhere in Niagara Falls Canada will gladly accept USD, you can either bring American or Canadian cash, but it’s important to bring one or the other in case you have any issues with your credit or debit cards. Cash is still king.
- Phone / camera. Most people would never leave home without it, but it’s worth mentioning because you will definitely want to capture the sights of Niagara Falls. It’s one of the most frequently photographed landmarks in world for a reason. Don’t forget your chargers and consider bringing a clear protective case for your electronics to protect them from the mist when you’re close to the Falls.
- Passport. This is for anyone traveling to Niagara Falls Ontario from outside of Canada. While in some cases things like an enhanced driver's license or birth certificate may be sufficient to get you across the border, a valid passport is often the most foolproof method.
- A sense of wonder. Imagine you are an indigenous person or a European explorer laying eyes on Niagara Falls for the first time. Don’t let all the images you’ve seen of Niagara Falls fool you. It may seem like some type of human engineered feat but try and remember that it is actually an entirely natural creation that has inspired awe in millions over the years.
WHAT TO BRING ON OUR WALKING TOUR OF NIAGARA FALLS
If you’ve already read our article about what to wear on Niagara Falls tours some of this might feel redundant.
- Comfortable shoes. There’s approximately 1 hour of total walking time connecting the sights and attractions spread throughout the full duration of the tour. While far from strenuous for the average person, it’s not the type for flip flops or high heels.
- Small bag / pack. It’s recommended to have a few basic essentials with you during the tour, especially for those with younger children or people with special medical needs, and a light pack will be helpful to carry things like a water bottle, light snacks, medications, sunscreen - especially in the summer and extra optional layers - especially closer to the winter etc,.
- Umbrella. Only if the forecast is iffy. You’ll be provided rain ponchos at both the boat tour and behind the Falls attractions to keep you dry (which you’re welcome to keep and wear for the rest of the tour and your day if the weather isn’t great) but having your own compact umbrella on hand could still come in handy.
- Questions. Our tour guides love answering questions about Niagara Falls so feel free to fire them off! Are you curious about specific things to do after the tour is over during the rest of your visit to Niagara Falls? Our guides are usually chalk full of tips and ideas. :)
- Friends and family. While we have plenty of individuals who book a tour, the experience is even better when it’s shared with loved ones, travel buddies or co-workers.
