BEST TIME FOR NIAGARA FALLS TOURS
Niagara Falls Canada never closes.
It’s not quite the city that never sleeps like New York City, but it’s not far off!
While some of the best Niagara Falls attractions adjust or close during the winter off season, you’re able to book Niagara Falls tours all year round because there’s always something going on!
WHAT IS THE BEST MONTH TO VISIT NIAGARA FALLS CANADA?
Niagara Falls Canada is visited by around 13 million people per year from counties all around the world.
With this in mind there are 2 schools of thought when it comes to deciding on the best month to visit.
- WHEN IT'S LEAST BUSY.
While tourists travel to Niagara Falls Canada all year round, there is definitely a distinct peak on season in the summer between June - August when the number of visitors increase.
If you’re looking to avoid the large crowds and are able to visit outside of this peak season, the “shoulder months” of April, May, September and October when all attractions are up and running is recommended. - DURING THE PEAK SUMMER SEASON.
June, July and August are the busiest months in Niagara Falls Canada for good reason. The weather is great, all of the attractions are running at full strength, the flow of Niagara Falls is at its peak and families are better able to travel with the kids out of school.
If crowds aren’t so much of a concern, the summer months are often the best months to visit for many.
Which months are the least busy in Niagara Falls Canada?
That’s simple, the winter months of November, December, January, February and March.
While there is still PLENTY to see and do no matter that month or the year you visit (e.g. Skylon Tower, Clifton Hill, Winter Festival of Lights, Illumination of Niagara Falls etc.,) the winter months tend to be less busy which many people take advantage of with shorter lines, cheaper pricing and more personalized service.

WHAT ARE THE BEST HOURS TO VISIT NIAGARA FALLS CANADA?
Most attractions in Niagara Falls are open by 10:00 am (some sooner) and that’s probably the latest you’d want to start your day in order to stay ahead of the crowds and lines.
Especially in the summer, the attractions tend to get really busy in the afternoon and you don’t want to spend a significant portion of your visit waiting in lines.
We make sure to begin each tour between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning because we know how valuable it is to be at the front of the lines to save everyone time.
BONUS: The tours finish at a perfect time before lunch so you can enjoy one of the many near by places to eat in Niagara Falls Canada.
IS NIAGARA FALLS CANADA BETTER AT NIGHT OR DAY?
When people imagine Niagara Falls in their head it’s usually with the sun shining and mist falling.
While this is understandable since Niagara Falls Canada is one of the all-time best destinations for day time fun and adventure, it’s no slouch at night either!
- The view from the top of the Skylon Tower at night is spectacular with the city lights aglow.
- The Falls are illuminated nightly with a wide spectrum of LED lighting, which can be programmed and paired with the theme of the day (e.g. Canada Day, Juneteenth, ALS awareness, Remembrance Day etc.,)
- Clifton Hill is lit brightly, reminding some visitors of the Las Vegas strip
- Every year between November and February the Winter Festival of Lights draws in visitors from all over to enjoy the sparkling lights and live entertainment
The debate between day and night is fairly subjective, but we would have to give the edge to the day time with night closing the gap! :)
WHAT IS THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK TO VISIT NIAGARA FALLS CANADA?
In terms of hours of operation and attractions there is often no difference between a Saturday and a Monday.
The biggest difference would be the amount of people visiting with weekends and holidays certainly being busier.
So unless there’s a special weekend event going on that you’d like to attend (e.g. Niagara Falls Comic Con), our recommendation is to visit on a weekday if you’re able to swing it.
HOW MANY DAYS DO YOU NEED AT NIAGARA FALLS CANADA?
It depends.
If you’re visiting for the first and only time, you can easily spend a full week in Niagara Falls Canada and not run out of things to do.
If you’re only visiting for the highlights, 2-3 days is often plenty.
Niagara Falls Canada is also a very popular day trip destination for people within driving distance.
