NIAGARA FALLS TOURS FOR A GOOD CAUSE

An important part of our business personality centers around serving others and being involved with and supporting our Niagara community.

Do you know of a local event or charity that might be interested in an auction item to raffle off at an upcoming fundraiser? Read out anytime at info@fallstour.com.

OUR MAJOR 2023 DONATION

Several of our partners have been long time supporters of the Niagara Falls Soup Kitchen so it didn’t take us long to select an organization the business should get behind in year 1.

Walk Niagara Tours donated a portion of proceeds from every person who booked with us in support of the Niagara Falls Soup Kitchen.

WHAT IS THE NIAGARA FALLS SOUP KITCHEN?

Also known as the Niagara Falls Community Outreach Program, they are a volunteer based registered charity whose goal is to alleviate the pain of hunger by providing nutritious meals free of charge to people in need.

Roughly 300 individuals from area churches, organizations and the general public dedicate their time and energy to make these programs a reality.

WHY DID WE CHOOSE THEM?

Besides the personal connection we have with the program, we decided to support the services they provide because there is an obvious and growing need within the city.

An unfortunate trend experienced by most municipalities in Canada, of which Niagara Falls is certainly not immune, is the increasing dependence on food support programs in terms of both the number of different people using them and the frequency of use.

STATS THAT PAINT THE PICTURE

  • Over 53,000 meals were served by the Niagara Falls Soup Kitchen in 2020
  • Annual costs to operate the program are approximately $100,000
  • Food program use is up 20% within Niagara since 2020
  • Around 40% of those utilizing food programs in Niagara are children (source)
